Today I’m quite pleased and excited to introduce LA based producer Kauf, or Ronald Kaufman, as well as debut his new single ‘When You’re Out’. His songs have that hazy, euphoric sound that are perfect for days spent with a wandering mind, paired with a little dreamy disco bounce. His emergence is certainly a welcome one, and a refreshing addition to our rapidly expanding world. Can you say “summer music”? That’s really all I can think/hear/feel/smell when I listen to these tunes.
We’re lucky enough to premiere his brand spanking new track ‘When You’re Out’. Take a listen or five, let it wash over you, and bask in the glorious sun-drenched beauty that this track delivers. You’re going to fall in love.
Kauf – ‘When You’re Out’
Forcing old hymns through a naked swim
We’re crawling up from the cold whims
Tell me when you’re out
I love the mystical qualities of this track. It carries that whole ethereal feel, but still manages to be fun and dance friendly. I really expect this track to be a big hit for Kauf, one that people are going to be playing out at pool parties around Los Angeles all summer long. It just works so well for that vibe. It’s tropical, it’s funky, it’s a little bit dark, but still super fresh. And while this isn’t a sound that’s completely unique, or something that hasn’t been done before, I think Kauf is doing it in a way that sounds much more organic and genuine than others.
Kauf’s debut single, ‘Relocate’, is another tremendous tune that caught our attention first. A lazy summer day is patiently awaiting this song, and I’ll be sure to fulfill that request cruising in my car, relaxing on the beach, or hungover on the couch with gobs of aloe tingling my sunburned skin.
Kauf – ‘Relocate
So many layers and textures to this track, it’s easy to feel fully swallowed up by the atmosphere that it creates. Great vocals & lyrics, on top of that same dark, tropical vibe in ‘When You’re Out’ that has me relocated far from the urban jungle I currently exist in. That driving bass line really carries the soaring synths nicely. All of the vocals, by the way, are Ron’s own, a respectable piece of info for a day where many vocal samples are simply outsourced. This is just pure, clean, organic production that ought to take you a long ways away from wherever you are.
Do you feel anything?
‘When You’re Out’ will be released on iTunes April 28th, so be on the look out for that and support this up-and-comer. Kauf’s friend is currently working on a video for ‘Relocate’, and both tracks will appear on an EP that should be out in the fall, unless he can manage to squeeze out enough material for an LP by then. I’m certainly rooting for the LP route… the more the merrier with this guy’s sound. Be sure to stay up to date with all things musical in the world of Kauf via his soundcloud page, and keep tabs on his life via twitter. Chances are he’ll be DJing around SoCal before you know it, and everyone will be on the bandwagon in no time.
