It was early summer 2013 when The Magician caused a huge stir with one of his first breakthrough originals “On My Brain”. It is hard to believe that just under a year ago, the deep house / nu-disco scene was still emerging from the shadows and had not really received the recognition and appreciation it deserved. However, thanks to influential visionaries such as The Magician, we are now seeing a generation of mindless “party-goers” being rapidly replaced by a culture of passionate music listeners who truly enjoy the transformative power of amazing tunes. In typical Magician style, this highly anticipated remix of My Friend Has a Swimming Pool was teased out in Magic Tape 43 before The Magician finally granted us the privilege of hearing it in full. So do yourself a favor this summer 2014 and chase DJs not parties. But most importantly, make sure your friend has a swimming pool!
LA Love. ROOM8 drop this burner and then Electric Youth hook the vocals lovely as they are known to do and and Plastic Plates set the world on fire and the dance floor explodes/kaboom (in a good way) and everything is ok now and everybody feels awesome and the end. Get up on this while its smoking new and then still rock it when the posers have hype machined off to the next shiz. Visions Of You. Happy Tuesday.
Swiss-based deep house enchantress Nora En Pure has casted a spell on us again with her latest remix of Adrian Lux’s Sooner or Later. What was originally a heavier electro-house tune has now been transformed into a blissful celebration of soulful basslines and delicate synthesizers. The pulses from this heartfelt beat form a protective barrier around fragile pianos and sensitive harmonies, allowing us to “take comfort in the calm” because now we are shielded “from dangers tonight.” In true Binary spirit, the loving sounds and tender melodies of Nora En Pure always offer a warm Embrace.
“u&me&aswimmingpoolatnitemake3″ reads Colour Vision’s description for this glistening nu-disco track by the name of Nite Swim. I’d personally prefer a lot more people in the pool at night if this were the sort of music playing. Nite Swim (Club Edit) comes off as much more of sunset party-starter than the implications of its intimate-sounding description would have you think prior to listening to it. Reminiscent of Todd Terje’s perennially positive swirling synths and easy tempo, this track is one you’ll want to have on deck for those upcoming summer jams we’re all looking forward to. Let’s hope for many more of these poolside session tracks to come from this very talented producer and friend. Colour Vision. Get familiar.
Yeah Yeah. I realize that I already wrote up Sir Goldroom‘s sublime take on this tune but….Darius has made a fresh one as well so, here we go. Between Cherokee and his own tunes I have been a long term fan so it is no surprise that I am feeling this. This is a producer who is known and regarded for consistently makes great tunes, this remix is no exception. Taking a different direction our friend places a slow groove to work and brings a sexy twist to the theme. Check the original as well, brilliant. Free Downloads won’t last. Grab it while you can.
It’s the weekend. It has been hot and although it is nice to feel like summer is upon us the week has dragged…tonight is for getting free and letting go. Being with friends and having a good time… The beat comes in, kinetic and urgent, a moaning wailing that is soon overshadowed by darker distortion, the candy vocal, the anthem like vibe…you are walking down the stairs, the lights are everywhere and nowhere, the crowd moves and breathes, this is nothing like work, nothing like school, nothing like home. Right here and right now, this is living. Moullinex always comes off, this is another one.Do It Again.
THIS. From the choral intro and slow build to the inevitable Goldroom bounce, this right here is the jam. The shimmery highs twinkle, that bass pushes us forward and a driving beat carries it all along almost effortlessly. There is a natural, musical, organic feeling that really sets his production apart from the overwhelming throng of formula driven “musicians” and that intangible quality is just one of the qualities that makes Goldroom such an appealing producer and remixer. Goldroom remixes with a clear consideration for the original, allowing the song to have new life while supporting the artists original vision.Architecture in Helsinki & Goldroom. Get familiar. Happy Thursday.
London’s Jamies Bea brings this beautifully distorted, groove filled tune and it is right on time. Refreshing in its deviation from the usual, there is a slight, radio station changing type dopeness that combines styles and creates something different. That moment when you are road tripping and one tune bleeds into another, for a miraculous moment it just fits perfectly and you leave it alone. Watching the road disappear behind you, onward towards your next adventure. Happy Tuesday. Get onboard.
