Tropic Of Pisces – Symmetry (Lenno Remix)

Finnish producer Lenno has served up a real gem here with his remix of ‘Symmetry,’ a song by Brooklyn band Tropic of Pisces. It’s drastically different from the original, adding a light and breezy disco touch that makes me want to go jump in the Pacific. Windows down, ocean air blasting in your face – this is a remix that’ll end up on countless “it’s almost summertime” playlists. I dare you to listen to it just once.

Alex Metric & Oliver – Galaxy

Two great producers join forces to bring you intergalactic vibes. Robotic voices aside there is a cohesion in the production and the vibe is fun and funky. Was that a disco call hiding somewhere behind those ray guns and funky bass? Oh hello space synth, right on time. Bounce to this and allow your mind to float free. a pleasent diversion. Half way to the weekend and the bongo drums give way to full on cat calls. Of course they do. Happy Wednesday.

Not a care in the world type groove especially appropriate for enjoyment of life, something we strive to always be doing. The tempo shifts, the synths soar and the groove keeps on coming through. Not too heavy and not too epic just straight forward and fun. Bold As Gold. Happy monday.

Young Summer – Taken

Young Summer is the project of Washington, DC’s Bobbie Allen. The few songs she’s put out so far are emotive, haunting and ethereal, with lyrics to match. ‘Taken’ is the latest output, and it’s simplicity is it’s true strength, allowing you to be taken into a trance by those sweet, smoky vocals. An album is expected later this year on Ready Set Records, and I really hope it’s full of this dreamy, lush sound. If this doesn’t stir up some emotions, you might need to check your pulse.

For something a bit more upbeat, but still melancholy and hypnotizing, check out this older Young Summer tune, ‘Waves That Rolled You Under.’

Javeon – “Intoxicated” (The Magician Remix)

This is either one of my most ironic posts, on a personal level, or the most obvious. Either way The Magician is bringing it. Between the driving, pulsing vibe and R & B stylings this song has an effect much like the subject matter. Once you have heard it it just keeps on pulling you back. Let go and enjoy the ride. Happy Thursday!

MØ – Don’t Wanna Dance (Goldroom Remix)

Another fantastic remix out today from Binary godfather Goldroom. It has all the right ingredients that we’ve come to expect out of a great Goldroom remix – bouncy, dreamy and as always, an unmistakable tropical feel. This re-imagination takes MØ’s original vocal, which is wonderful on it’s own, and twists it into a dance floor beauty built for summertime DJ sets. I have a feeling you’ll be hearing this a lot at pool parties and beach festivals everywhere in the next couple of months. Or you can just listen here and pretend you’re on vacation, sipping a mojito on a beach of lush white sand.

CHEZDUNE – Right Down The Line (Gerry Rafferty Cover)

Exclusive! (Insert the sound of one those abrasive air horns you always hear on dancehall reggae mix tapes) Brooklyn’s own Chezdune has crafted one hell of a tune. A cover of an old school ballad, this version adds new life to a melancholy song while maintaining the appropriate balance of lead rock guitar and nostalgic synth which, is more difficult than one might imagine. From the shifting programing to the quality of the vocals to the sheer beauty of the way this all works so well…just a tight jam. Give him a heart on Hype Machine and check out his other songs on soundcloud. A pleasent new discovery. Press play and slip away into a futuristic world of urgent desire and heartfelt declarations. Happy Friday.
